The Battle for the Castle

Tomio is out and the battle can begin. The first direct presidential election in the Czech Republic is colorful like a fairy tale, full of goblins, princes and even a dark lord.

The still reigning president Václav Klaus made sure before his farewell that people will remember him forever by releasing 6,300 prisoners, among them right wing extremists and perpetrators of economic offences, halting the criminal prosecution in 18 big cases. He did not, however, pardon a man who was convicted for his drawings on election campaign billboards. Indeed, Klaus moves in mysterious ways… and out of the castle in March.
