A giant robot named “Trifot” stands just outside Nové Butovice metro station. The eyeballs are moving around, apparently watching people as they walk by. Six monitors display the images caught by the cameras.
This kinetic sculpture of 12 metres height was created by the Czech artist David Černý and unveiled on 14 October 2016.
At first I felt a bit uncomfortable when I saw that people are being filmed without their knowledge. But then – doesn’t it happen all the time in public space? The only difference being now that we can watch the monitors.
I heard complaints from a local resident who said that Trifot’s eyes sometimes even peep into the windows of the adjacent houses.
